Why not wait them out? Isn't there a really good chance they'll either blow themselves up or ruin their planet's environment and make the atmosphere unlivable? Waiting might save an invader a lot of money.

I have a new secret plan to destroy the earth. It involves melting the polar ice caps with a big magnifying glass in orbit. I believe my device might also double as a useful tool to watch outdoor football games in big stadiums for free.

Wouldn't it be quicker to just move the earth closer to the sun? how about building a bumper like on a pinball machine right in its orbital path? You could bank-shot the whole planet right into the sun.
